Yulia Gerken Gets Her Broker's License

Mon, Jun 22nd 2015 10:56 am by Charlie Gerken Branson News

My wife and I work side-by-side everyday selling real estate. After two years practicing as a licensed Realtor, Yulia Gerken took the additional classroom hours and passed the 5-hour exam required by the State of Missouri in order to attain her Broker's license. Now we're both Brokers!

Many times when I take buyers out to show property, I enjoy learning more about them other than their housing preferences. As a recent newlywed myself, one of my favorite questions to ask people is - "How long have you been married?" After they've told me how long and where they met, my follow-up question is - "What's the key to a successful marriage?" After the jokes subside, the number one consistent an...

Lordy Lordy Look Who's 40!

Sun, Jun 21st 2015 2:14 pm by Charlie Gerken Branson News

Gerken & Associates celebrated 40 years in the real estate business last month. In 1975, my mom and dad started our real estate office on the now famous 76 Strip in Branson. Back then; there wasn't a whole lot going on - mostly lake lots and mobile home sales. Through the 80's, 90's and now into the millennial; Gerken & Associates continues to be a powerhouse in the real estate arena.

The agents within the Gerken & Associates umbrella have each served multiple times on the local realtor board, received awards and designations, as well as continue to play an active role in the community through the Rotary Club, Kiwanis Club, Women's Council of Realtors, Relay for Life, Big Brothers Big Si...

Richard Branson related to Branson, Missouri

Tue, Mar 17th 2015 2:49 pm by Charlie Gerken Branson News

Well isn't this an interesting turn of events! Richard Branson, the eccentric English businessman, entrepreneur and founder of Virgin Group, is laying claim that Reuben S. Branson, the founder of our local community, is a member of Richard Branson's family tree.

Back in 1882, Reuben S. Branson opened a post office and general store in Southwest Missouri. Upon submitting paper work to the U.S. Post Office, Reuben listed the community name as "Branson" and that's been the name of our town ever since.

Richard Branson is now publicly stating he's traced his family lineage back to Branson, Missouri and that Reuben S. Branson is his great-great-uncle. A recent post on Richard Branson's webs...

Tue, Mar 3rd 2015 3:45 pm by Charlie Gerken Branson

We get lots of emails asking for help finding property for sale in Branson, Missouri. Generally after weeks of email correspondence; the first day we go out looking is the first time we've met in person. Today I received the below email from some nice folks I took out last week for the first time.

Meant to mention before that you made a very good impression on Cindy and I. You are prompt on replying to emails and provided requested information (sometimes people provide what they hope you want, not what you asked for). You also were professional, friendly, and knowledgeable while showing us the places last week.
